All Saints' Day 2017

Our little saints were very excited for the upcoming feast day!  Magdalene originally wanted to be St. Therese, but she has this beautiful princess dress that would only fit for one more year so she decided to be St. Elizabeth of Hungary.  She made her crown too!

Well Tobias....what can I say...he is brave?!  He has been learning about St. Anthony of Padua for almost one year now.  I was happy to see him dressed up as St. Anthony, the patron of the church I was baptized in and received my first Holy Communion.  Plus....he sure made a cute St. Anthony.

Yes, he wanted to cut his hair like St. Anthony.

I think Philomena's costume had my heart in it.  I love Our Lady of Fatima....and I spent time studying the veil of the Pilgrim Virgin statue that visited our church back in September.  The crown on Philomena's was the crown I gave Jordan the night before we got married.  I wrote him a note about how he would be the king of our household (something like that), and my sweet sister dropped off the crown and note at night....I think in the middle of some kind of rain.

"I wove tools.  I wove Mary.  I wove Jesus."  Theodore was practicing his lines preparing for St. Joseph the Worker.  I never thought he would say those lines in front of others, but it sure was cute to hear him saying it at home.

Happy Feast of the Virgin of Childbirth!

Today is a very special day! I am deeply grateful for this wonderful little prayer that entered my life through the hands of my dear brother-in-law (via Fr. Abbet).  Today we honor the Virgin of Childbirth!  Here is the prayer that helped bring courage, hope, and a deeper love and trust for God and Blessed Mother.

Virgin of Childbirth

Basilica S. Augustine--Rome

Prayer

Holy Mother of God, Virgin of Childbirth, we
come to you to sing your praise.  You are the
beloved daughter of the Father, the Mother of the
Word Incarnate, the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
You are the Virgin of God chosen from eternity to realize
our salvation: ask your Son Jesus to grant us a
strong faith, a solid hope, and a generous charity.

Virgin Mother, we put under your care all the
mothers who pray for the integrity of their children
and for a successful birth, so that the life in their womb
may be preserved from all dangers.
Grant them to come back to you with their child
to give thanks to the Lord who works wonders
for those who hopefully trust in Him.

Virgin of Childbirth, protect all children with
your love, so that, cleansed from sin by baptism
and received in the Holy Mother Church, they
may serenely grow up, full of virtues, in order to
become courageous witnesses of your Son Jesus,
and may persist on the path of sanctity, with the
favor of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Ave Maria...

Virgin of Childbirth, pray for us!

A New School Year Begins!

Twas the night before school started
 Tobias found a baby snake

Magdalene picked out her brother's clothes.  He had to wear a tie!  And white!  And dark pants!  He was more than willing to hear her advice on fashion.

Miss Philomena Jacobs was excited for  her first official day of school!  We started a bit after her birthday, but now it's official that she is in Pre-Kindergarten.  She was so excited!  Ziggy the Zebra from Tobias' Pre-Kindergarten year joined us as well.

Tobias was so excited to see his pencil pouch and then he wanted to get back to snake catching.

Magdalene was very happy to start school!  She browsed through her new books, and she couldn't wait to begin.

Principal Daddy and Dr. English joined us for our first day.  Oh, Ziggy has been waiting a long time for Philomena so he joined us too.

Then it was time to play.

Happy Birthday Tobias!

Dearest Tobias,

You are the sweetest little boy.  You love hugs and spending time cuddling.  The day you were born was an event indeed!  We had a random snowfall that morning and then sunshine that afternoon.  Mommy and Daddy were so excited to meet you, because you definitely kept us waiting a few weeks for your arrival!  It was worth the wait.  You were born around four in the afternoon on November 9th, but Mommy had to be extra patient before she could hold you again later that evening.  You took your first ambulance right with Daddy that night.  It was so nice when Mommy and Daddy could take you home.  Your big sister was excited to have a little brother, and you two have been attached since.
You think about others' feelings.  When Mommy and Daddy ask if someone would share, you volunteer first.  We are so touched by your giving nature and thank Jesus for such a precious little boy.

When Mommy and Daddy asked you what kind of party you would like to have, you were torn between a deer party or a Lion Guard party.  The final decision was Lion Guard!  We went to the party store sometime before your birthday to pick up some supplies.  You were so excited to walk around the store picking up decorations for your birthday.

We even had a chance to play with your friends on your birthday!  It was so much fun!

We took up the entire swing set!

You definitely have a heart for little ones especially little girls (you are so used to sisters).
Mommy and Daddy's goddaughter is used to boys too so it's a good friendship between the two of you.

We came back home to celebrate with Daddy!  Daddy usually helps Mommy with the boys' birthday cakes.  I like the manly perspective.  Daddy was funny and hid Janja, the hyena, behind your five birthday candles to keep him out of the pride lands.

Birthday present time!

Since your birthday present from Mommy and Daddy didn't come in the mail on time, Daddy picked up a fun present that day from Kmart.  I think Daddy had more fun with it than anyone else!

He was pretending the stairs was his treestand.

It was a fun birthday, and YOU are so precious!  I love being your mommy.   We love you, Tobias!
