Bye, Bye Philomena!

To Nature Walk or Nature Ride.....?

The Sixth Sunday after Pentecost didn't start as planned, as I woke up feeling ill, so the executive decision was made not to travel to Uncle Josh's house (St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary) for Mass today.  Fortunately, my Caring, Compassionate, Lovely, etc. wife Christina nursed me back to good enough health to sanctify our Sunday as best we could.  Feeling better, we all set off for a Nature Walk to enjoy the beauty of God's creation and hopefully catch a few of his creatures.

 

Nature "Walkers" First catch of the day: A cute and cuddly baby toad. 

 Toad was not much bigger than a penny.  As you can see, Tobias and the rest of the walker / riders were fueled up with "Bug Juice" (Fruit punch, Grape and Lemonade)

 

 About to exit "Mosquito Pass"  Note: Mosquitoes favored Theodore, but we will be better prepared with "Witchhazel" next go around.

 My favorite spot: The Logs of Skinks (aka - little lizards)  A great place to catch dragon flies, butterflies, snakes, skinks and stinging nettles (Magdalene and I were victims of nettles today - Next time Lavender Oil will be a part of the Nature walk kit)

 A seasoned Nature "Rider" - Philomena is all about energy conservation / preservation - She rides to every spot and is always equipped with liquids / solids to keep her going.

 Two out of three nets did not have holes in them.  Philomena used the pink holey net (frog net) in case we got into real frog trouble.

 Does a Theodore poop in the Woods? Oh Yes, even if we forgot the wipes and extra diapers in the van (Backtracked to avert disaster).  Theodore kept us safe from bears and mountain lions with the pungent aroma wafting from his diaper.

 Nature Rider at her finest.  No net this time, only a cup full of pretzels to lure in the insects.

 No luring luck yet, but a baby fawn did come out to see what we were having at our picnic.

 I was more excited than the children to venture into this beautiful flower patch full of creatures to catch.  However, a tummy ache cut the catching short (Nature Calls).

 A widow skimmer (Dragon fly) - that didn't want to leave our "bug jar".  Magdalene and I watched it clean its face, lick the jar and all bug talk to us. 

 Christina has a future in nature photography.  I think Field and Stream left a voicemail.

Little brother is ready to join in on the fun as well with a  few books of his own.  I had to hide them, because he wanted to start coloring in them. 

 

 



Lunch with Grandma

Grandma is so cool!  She works in the school cafeteria so we had to visit her!  Our visit was very fun.  Grandma was so kind to take us back to her house and play with us.  We love you!
